But why?
This is my first post ever. I've never been one to write a blog, but after starting my professional career a bit over a year ago, I wish I had something to look back on. That is what this is for. I'm going to be writing on this occasionally just like a journal.
What's the story so far?
I graduated university in 2023 and then I started applying for jobs like most graduates. I applied to Zoocha for a graduate back end developer role. I did some research of the company before applying and saw that they were a Drupal agency. I hadn't used Drupal before and had only seen it under Softaculous on cPanel but always went with WordPress. After I received the message for the first interview, I decided I should give Drupal a go. I installed it and was very overwhelmed at first. I was only used to WordPress UI. I wondered around the different menus but wasn't learning much. Despite this, I was successful in the interview process and started my first day in October the same year.

I spent the first half a year learning more and more about Drupal and working on easy tasks for clients. However, I was getting interested in Drupal contributions. In May of 2024 I managed to get my first contribution credit on the Twig SVG module with the help of a senior developer at Zoocha. This was just the start of my contribution journey. Later that same month I got my first core contribution credit with the issue titled Testcase creates false positive. I continued learning more of Drupal while working and used that knowledge to help contribute more. However, I wanted to do more.
DrupalCamp England
I was looking for a way to meet the community. I had heard about DrupalCamps and DrupalCons, so after speaking with my boss to see where I can find out more on DrupalCamps, he invited me to help organise DrupalCamp England (2025) in mid December. It was nice interacting with some other community members of Drupal and learn what goes on when planning an event. I offered to volunteer and helped out with registrations where I was stationed all day to answer any questions! While at DrupalCamp, there was a competition to get a free ticket to DrupalCon Vienna (2025) in which you needed to post an image with Franz, the DrupalCon Vienna mascot, and receive the most likes at that event. I was fortunate enough win with the image below!

However, all good days must end. The re-emergence of DrupalCamp England was a success and all of the organisers can be seen below!

What's next?
I'm going to try and continue updating this blog and will be adding more content from my very first DrupalCon.
